Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Milan, Italy & Nice, France

Hey Cool People!

So this is the second time I am writing this post. I forgot to hit save last time, but anyway it has been another crazy few days of travel; traveling between three countries in less than a week. I still have a little over 5 weeks left of my European adventure, but it seems to be going by so fast now.

Anyway, this is what we did over the past few days:

Day 87 Thursday, August 13th - Today we woke up in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, hopped on the bus at 8 am and made our way to Milan. We got to Milan right around lunchtime, and when we got checked into our room, a couple of us went for a walk to find some food. We found this little shop right around the corner that was really cheap.

The weather was a bit rainy. This was probably the first bit of real rain we have seen since Berlin back in late June. So, after lunch, a bunch of us stayed in the hostel and had a Harry Potter movie marathon.

That night, we visited that little food shop right around the corner for dinner. Lydia and Jess shared a pizza and I got a Kebab. That night we tried to work out how to watch the Packer game. It is football season and as die hard cheeseheads, we NEED to watch the game. Let me tell you, its not easy. We were unsuccessful in finding a way to live-stream the game that night (or morning, since the Packers were playing at 1:30 am our time). We just checked score updates online.

Day 88 Friday, August 14th - Today was our day to explore Milan. We signed up for a free walking tour of Milan. We got ready and made our way to the meeting point. Well, the tour guide never showed up. So, a few people we met who were also waiting for the tour decided to walk around and explore Milan on our own. We made our way to the Duomo, got a few pictures before it started to rain.

Once it started to rain, we decided that we needed a drink, so on our walk back toward the hostel, we were going to find a bar to have a drink. What we didn't realize is that everything was closed for Good August. I mean EVERYTHING was closed. So, we were left with only going to the supermarket and grabbing a few things to make our own meals.

After lunch, we decided to, of course, continue our Harry Potter marathon. That night we made a group pasta dinner with the people we met on the us ride to Milan and continued our Harry Potter marathon; we even decided to play the Harry Potter drinking game when we turned on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Game Rules: Drink any time someone says Harry!

Day 89 Saturday, August 15th - This morning wasn't anything exciting. We slept in a bit from staying up late playing the Harry Potter drinking game. We had to get our stuff ready to check out as well and we checked out at the last possible moment. The morning wasn't super crazy. We got some food and watched some more Harry Potter as we waited for the bus to Nice.

The bus arrived around 1:45 and we were off! We had the coolest guide, Rose. She was super relaxed and friendly. Anyway, we got to Nice and checked into our hostel. Me, Lydia and Jess once again got upgraded. We were originally suppose to be in an 8 Bed Dorm and we got upgraded to a private room! Woot Woot!

A few of us decided to meet in the lobby right after check in because as we were driving in to Nice, we found out there was a firework show at the beach and we all decided to go check it out! The beach got pretty busy and it was some good people watching! The fireworks, themselves, were amazing and we drank the last bit of wine we had left from Milan, which made for a great first night in Nice.

After the fireworks, we were all starving and we spotted a Chinese restaurant near our hostel, so we pretty much ran there to grab some late night dinner. It was cheap and good! After dinner, we relaxed a bit in the room and then went to bed.

Day 90 Sunday, August 16th -Today was our first full day in Nice. We decided to hop on the bus to Monaco with our friends Katie and Freya. We got dropped off at the Monte Carlo Casino and took some pictures. It cost money to enter the Monte Carlo, so I went into the casino next door!!! Only gambled for about 15 minutes, but walked away with €5 extra in my pocket.

After the casino, we just walked around for a little bit and tried to find a place to have lunch and a drink. We ended up stopping at a little restaurant near the port and enjoyed a bottle of prosecco. After lunch, Lydia and Jess wanted to send out a postcard, since it was technically another country we were in, before grabbing some gelato and catching the bus back to Nice.

We made it make to Nice right in time. About 10 minutes after we got there, it started to down pour. We got a little wet, but not too bad. That night in Nice, we stopped at the supermarket to grab a few snacks before heading to the beach for a late night picnic. After our picnic, we walked around to a Gelatoria named Fenocios, which had all these crazy flavors. I got Beer, Irish Coffee and Baileys flavored scoops.

Day 91 Monday, August 17th - Today Jessica wasn't feeling the greatest, so she stayed in bed while me and Lydia attempted to do some shopping. We both found loads of things we wanted to by, but we restrained ourselves and didn't spend a dime!

That night we made some fajitas for dinner in the hostel before meeting up with some people for Happy Hour. Happy Hour consisted of €1 .5l beers and we drank our fair share. We were not going to go out after Happy Hour, but we got convinced to go to this bar called Waynes. After a few more drink and some late night gelato, we went to bed around 2 or 3 am. The morning was going to be rough knowing we had an 8 am bus to get on.
