London, England - Part 3

London, England - Part 3

Hey Cool People,

So here is what happened the final couple days we spent in London!

Day 9 Wednesday, May 27th - We started off morning by waking up pretty early and making our way to Buckingham Palace. It was the State Opening of Parliament and we were hoping to get a glimpse of the Queen as she left the palace to make her way by carriage to Parliament. The State Opening of Parliament is a very colorful ceremony showcasing British history, culture, and contemporary politics and included a Speech from the Throne, known as the Queen's Speech. The event was showcased all over the news most of the day, with the highlight being the Queen's Speech.

We got to Buckingham Palace pretty early and got a fairly good spot to view all the excitement from. Needless to say it was a pretty big ordeal and Lydia and I got very lucky to be in London to see this all happen. However, the minute the Queen left the palace, my camera decided stopped working, so I quickly had to open my phone to take pictures, and they are not the greatest. Of course, after the Queen left, my camera started to work again. At least I can say I saw the Queen!!!

After watching the procession from Buckingham Palace, Lydia and I walked over to County Hall to take a ride on the London Eye; that big, giant Ferris wheel. It was pretty cool, but I have to say I liked the High Roller in Las Vegas a little bit better because it was a little bigger, therefore less crowded and had an open bar in the capsule. Cheers!!!

After our adventures for the day, Lydia and I took a couple touristy pictures in a red telephone booth with Parliament in the background. From there, we headed back to the hostel to back and gather our stuff for our journey to Ireland.

Day 10 Thursday, May 28th - Today Lydia and I pretty much spent the day in the park. We checked out of our hostel in the morning and just spent most of the day relaxing. There is going to be a Triathlon in the park sometime in the next couple of day and it was interesting to watch the event staff set everything up.

Later that afternoon we made our way to the coach station to catch our bus, and later a ferry, to Dublin! We will be spending the next 9 days touring Ireland and I am super excited, especially since my birthday is in a few days as well.

Overall, London has been amazing!! There is so much history in that city, it is unbelievable. I will definitely want to go back someday.

Umm... I think that is everything for now.

Anyway be cool, be awesome, be you!
